Our rib and block slabs are composed of rectangular shaped precast, pre-stressed concrete ribs that support rebated filler blocks placed between two ribs. Concrete is poured between and over the blocks and ribs.

WHAT WE DO ?

OUR PRODUCTS

Cape Slabs uses 5mm diameter 1900MPa triple indented, low relaxation stressing wire to supply the pre-stressed strength of the ribs. 3 wire, 4 wire and 6 wire ribs are used to support the rebated filler blocks and provide the structural integrity to support the slab load over its span.

  1. Ribs: Cape Slabs uses 5mm diameter 1900MPa triple indented, low relaxation stressing wire to supply the pre-stressed strength of the ribs. 3 wire, 4 wire and 6 wire ribs are used to support the rebated filler blocks and provide the structural integrity to support the slab load over its span.
  2. Blocks: rebated concrete filler blocks together with the ribs provide the permanent shuttering for the concrete placed on top of the ribs and blocks. Cape Slabs currently uses two thicknesses of concrete blocks: 120mm and 205mm. Our blocks are 500mm long and 200mm wide.
  3. Stiffener Beams: Reinforced perpendicular indentations in the ribs and block matrix that tie the ribs and blocks together to create a homogenous surface capable of evenly distributing load applied to the surface.
  4. Engineer Designed Slab Reinforcement: additional reinforcement required to carry the loads specified by the Architects. This may also include the reinforced concrete beams required to support the slab in areas not supported by load bearing brickwork.
  5. Mesh Reinforcement: prevents cracking in the concrete surface.
  6. Slab Thickness: Cape Slabs currently design two slab thicknesses: 170mm and 255mm.
